Peer Recovery Coaching Services

Recovery coaches provide connection in navigating recovery supportive systems and resources, including professional and non-professional services.

  • Peer mentoring or coaching

  • Resource connection

  • Barrier removal

  • Facilitating and leading recovery groups

  • Outreach services such as attending treatment court sessions or speaking to professionals or groups.

  • Outreach to individuals who are still active in their disorder and or addiction, up to and including individuals who have been in recovery for several years.

  • Emotional support, Informational support, Instrumental support, and Affiliation support

Hours vary and will typically be during the weekday, with evenings and weekends as appropriate, and scheduled ahead of time. While available for emergencies, it is not an on-call position, and is dependent upon availability.

Commitment

Peer recovery coaches work with individuals for up to 15-18 months. There is no maximum amount of time. The purpose is to get newly recovering individuals to move forward and achieve their goals to gain stability in their own recovery.

It’s always a goal that individuals who maintain their sobriety will in return give back to others in recovery as well. There is no cost to any individual for accessing peer recovery services with us.

Phoenix House Peer Recovery Coaches are certified by CCAR or the MDHHS (Michigan Dept of Health and Human Services. The training is a week-long face-to-face training, followed by a two-day face-to-face training review, followed by a certification exam.

The MDHHS training is nationally recognized.

Our Peer Recovery Coaches serve Iron, Keweenaw, Houghton, Baraga, Ontonagon, and Gogebic Counties.

Treatment

Phoenix House serves individuals 18 years and older who struggle with substance use problems. Our inpatient substance abuse treatment is located in Calumet and is for males only. They are required to be referred by NorthCare Network (906) 225-7254. We also have outpatient services in Calumet, Hancock, Ontonagon, and Bessemer, MI.

We only accept Medicaid/UPHP/HMP, but we do provide funding for individuals who are low-income and are eligible on our income guidelines, with no other insurance options available to them.
